PixMap
iOS & Android

Your places.
Your memory.

You find a great place, promise yourself you'll remember it, and you don't. PixMap saves it in one tap — or without touching your phone at all — then taps you on the shoulder when you're near it again.

The forgetting problem

A roadside dhaba with incredible chai. A hidden waterfall. A mechanic who does honest work. A sunset viewpoint. You find these places constantly — and months later you're standing 200 metres away with no idea.

Saving a place was never the hard part. Remembering it at the right moment is.

What it is

Three layers, one map — yours

PixMap isn't a directory of businesses and it isn't a social feed. It's a memory system for the places you personally found.

Memory

Save fast, recall automatically. PixMap watches for the moment you're near something you saved and surfaces it — instead of waiting to be searched.

Growth

Pins get richer over time. Add photos, notes, tags, your own rating. Every revisit is counted, so a pin becomes a record of your relationship with a place.

Social — the quiet kind

Send a place to one friend who'd actually like it. No followers, no feed, no broadcast. Trust is earned by going back and by saying thanks, not by stars from strangers.

Features

What PixMap does

Save without looking

"Hey Siri, save this place in PixMap." Say it while driving and the pin lands with your words as the title. Works with Google Assistant too.

Reminded, not searched

Come within range of a place you saved and PixMap tells you. The whole point is the pin you'd forgotten you had.

Photos, notes, tags

A pin holds up to 20 photos, free-text notes and your own tags — the detail a map link structurally cannot carry.

Built for the road

CarPlay and Android Auto show what you saved near your current position, and hand navigation off to the maps app you already use.

Share one to one

Send a pin to a friend with the photo and the notes intact. They can open it on the web without installing anything. Every share is revocable.

Places that aren't on the map

The chai cart, the shortcut, the viewpoint with no address. If it isn't a registered business it doesn't exist to Google. It exists here.

How to use it

Three steps, then it works on its own

01

Drop a pin

Tap + when you're standing somewhere worth remembering, or say "Save this place in PixMap" hands-free. It takes about a second — a title is optional, and PixMap fills in the address for you.

02

Let it grow

Come back later and add the photo you took, what you ordered, why it was good. Rate it for yourself. PixMap counts your revisits automatically — no check-in button to remember.

03

Get reminded

Months later you're driving through the same area. PixMap notices you're close to a pin and tells you. That's the moment the whole app exists for.

The app

Small, sharp and quick

Four tabs. No feed to scroll, nothing to catch up on.

Nearby — everything you saved, closest first.
Pin detail — the photo, the notes, the reason you saved it.
Friends — people you chose, one at a time.

Screens are illustrative and drawn from the shipping design system.

Privacy

Your map is yours

Most apps default to public because public grows faster. PixMap defaults to private because a list of the places you go is not something to hand out casually.

Read the privacy policy

  • Private by default. A new pin is visible to you and nobody else until you deliberately change that.
  • Contacts never leave your phone. To find friends we hash phone numbers on-device. The plaintext of your address book is never uploaded.
  • No ads, no data sale. We don't profile you, we don't sell your data, and there's no advertising business behind this.
  • Leave with your data. Delete your account from Settings, or request it here. Export is a single email away.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is PixMap free?
Yes. Saving places, proximity reminders, photos, notes and sharing with friends are all free. A paid membership for power users is planned for later, and nothing that's free today will move behind it.
Are my saved places private?
Every pin is private by default. Nothing you save is visible to anyone until you deliberately share it. There's no public profile, no feed and no follower list.
How is this different from saving a place in Google Maps?
Google Maps saves a bookmark you then have to go looking for. PixMap is built around recall — it tells you about a place when you're near it again. It also holds places that aren't on any map, because you're not limited to registered businesses.
Does PixMap track my location in the background?
Only if you grant background location permission, and only so the app can alert you when you approach a place you already saved. You can revoke it at any time in your device settings — the rest of the app keeps working.
Can I save a place while driving?
Yes. Say "Save this place in PixMap" to Siri or Google Assistant without touching your phone. PixMap also runs on CarPlay and Android Auto so you can see what you saved near your current position.
How do I delete my account and my data?
Settings, then Delete account, inside the app. Your places, photos and friend records are removed from the active database within 30 days. You can also request deletion here.
