Terms of service

Effective 11 August 2026 · Last updated 11 August 2026

PixMap ("the App", "we", "us", "our") is provided by Pixelbrahma Design Studio Private Limited, a company registered in India. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are the agreement between you and us for your use of the App.

1. The agreement

By creating an account, or by otherwise using the App, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not accept them, do not use the App.

If you use the App on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind that organisation, and "you" means that organisation.

2. Who may use PixMap

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, a child is anyone under 18 years of age. Because we are an Indian company, that definition governs who may use PixMap and on what terms.

  • If you are 18 or over, you may create an account and agree to these Terms for yourself.
  • If you are under 18, you may use PixMap only where a parent or lawful guardian has given verifiable consent through the process described in our Privacy Policy. That adult accepts these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the App.
  • If you have a lawful guardian by reason of disability, your guardian gives consent on the same basis.
  • We do not track or behaviourally monitor users under 18, and we serve no targeted advertising to them. PixMap serves no advertising to anyone.
  • You must not be barred from using the App under the laws of your country.

If we learn that an account for a person under 18 was created without verified guardian consent, we will suspend it and erase the associated personal data.

3. Your account

Accounts are created and secured with your phone number and a one-time password sent by SMS. You are responsible for:

  • keeping access to that phone number and device secure;
  • everything that happens through your account;
  • telling us promptly at hello@pixelbrahma.com if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

One account is for one person. Do not sell, rent or transfer your account. If you lose access to your phone number, we may be unable to recover your account or its contents.

4. Your licence to use the App

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and with the rules of the app store you installed from.

We keep all rights not expressly granted. You must not copy, modify, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works from the App, nor remove any proprietary notice, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.

5. Your content

"Your Content" means everything you put into the App: place titles, notes, tags, photos, videos, voice notes, ratings, comments and messages.

  • You own Your Content. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership to us.
  • You grant us a limited licence to host, store, back up, reproduce, transmit and display Your Content, and to reformat or resize it (for example, generating thumbnails and translating text into English where you use a dual-language feature). This licence exists solely so we can operate the App for you, and it ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to the retention periods in the Privacy Policy.
  • You are responsible for Your Content. You confirm you have the rights to it, and that it does not infringe anyone's rights or break any law.
  • We do not routinely monitor Your Content, but we may review, restrict or remove content that is reported to us or that we believe breaches these Terms.

We do not use Your Content to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the App to:

  • break any law, or encourage anyone else to;
  • post content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or that sexualises minors;
  • save, share or publish the location of another person in order to track, stalk, harass or endanger them, or any location where doing so would put someone at risk;
  • impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your connection to a person or business;
  • upload malware, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the App, our systems, or another user's account or data;
  • scrape, crawl, bulk-download or otherwise systematically extract data from the App;
  • use automated means to create accounts, inflate visit counts, or manufacture trust signals such as revisits or thanks;
  • resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the App or its content without our written permission;
  • interfere with the App's operation or place unreasonable load on our infrastructure.

Safety-critical point: do not use PixMap to record or share where another person lives, works or regularly goes without their knowledge and consent. We treat this as a serious breach and will act on reports of it.

7. Sharing and other people

Pins are private by default. When you choose to share:

  • Sharing a pin with a friend, or making it public, exposes that pin — its title, notes, photos, tags and coordinates — to the people you shared it with. It never exposes your other pins or your live location.
  • A shared link opens a web page that anyone holding the link can view. Treat the link as the key. You can revoke a share at any time, which disables the link.
  • Once someone has seen shared content they may have retained a copy. Revoking a share stops future access; it cannot recall what has already been viewed or saved.
  • Content that other users share with you belongs to them. Do not redistribute it without their permission.

We are not responsible for what other users do with content you choose to share with them.

8. Location, driving and safety

This section matters more than the rest. Please read it.

  • Location data is approximate. GPS accuracy varies with device, weather, buildings and terrain. Distances, proximity alerts and coordinates in the App may be wrong or delayed. Do not rely on them where accuracy is critical.
  • PixMap is not a navigation system and not an emergency service. It hands navigation off to Google Maps or Apple Maps. Never use it to summon help in an emergency — contact your local emergency number.
  • Drive responsibly. CarPlay, Android Auto and voice saving exist so you do not have to handle your phone while driving. You remain fully responsible for operating your vehicle safely and for obeying every applicable traffic law. Do not interact with the App in a way that distracts you from driving.
  • Places carry risk we cannot assess. Pins may describe roadside stalls, unmarked trails, private property or places that have since closed or become unsafe. We do not verify, inspect or endorse any place, and content from other users is their opinion, not ours. Use your own judgement, and respect private property and local rules.
  • Proximity alerts depend on permissions and on your device. Background location, battery optimisation settings, or an offline device can delay or prevent an alert. Do not depend on receiving one.

9. Third-party services

The App relies on services we do not control, including Google Firebase, Google Maps, Apple Maps, Apple Siri and CarPlay, Google Assistant and Android Auto, and Google Cloud Translation. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content, availability or acts.

Where you install the App from the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store's terms also apply. Apple and Google are not parties to these Terms and have no obligation to provide support for the App.

10. Paid memberships

The App is currently free to use. We may introduce optional paid memberships in future. If we do:

  • the price, billing period and what is included will be shown to you before you are charged;
  • payment is handled by the app store you purchased through, and their refund policy governs refunds — we generally cannot issue refunds directly;
  • subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you cancel through your app store account settings, not through us;
  • features that are free at the time a paid tier launches will not be moved behind it.

11. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the App running but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service. We may add, change, suspend or discontinue features at any time. Where a change materially reduces functionality you rely on, we will make reasonable efforts to give notice in the App or by email.

Some features may be released as beta or preview and may be unstable or withdrawn.

12. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the App at any time and delete your account from Settings → Delete account, or by following these instructions.

We may suspend or terminate your access, with notice where practicable, if you materially breach these Terms, if your use exposes us or other users to legal risk or harm, or if we are required to by law. Where the breach is serious — in particular the safety breaches in section 6 — we may act immediately and without notice.

On termination your licence ends. Sections 5 (as to licences already granted for content you have shared), 13, 14, 15 and 16 survive.

13. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability.

We do not warrant that the App will meet your requirements, that location data or proximity alerts will be accurate or timely, or that content contributed by other users is correct, current or safe.

Nothing in these Terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep all statutory rights that cannot be waived.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data or content, arising out of or connected with your use of the App — even if we were advised such loss was possible.

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the App and these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) INR 5,000.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pixelbrahma Design Studio Private Limited, its directors, employees and agents against any claim, demand, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the App, or your breach of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law rules. The courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka, India have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence where local law gives you that right.

Before starting formal proceedings, please write to us at hello@pixelbrahma.com — most issues are resolved far faster that way.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. When we do we will change the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will notify you in the App or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the App after that date means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the App and delete your account.
